Vintage album containing 276 postcards received by Amèlia Albert Paradís, the writer’s sister.
It includes twelve postcards handwritten by Caterina Albert, dated between 1904 and 1905 and signed with different variations of her name: “C. Albert Paradís,” “C. Albert,” “C. A. P.,” “Catarina,” and “Kate,” as well as one signed “V. C.”
One of the postcards is dated in Barcelona on October 2, 1905.
The collection includes photographic and illustrated postcards, Modernist postcards with embossed designs, hand-colored and hand-painted examples, Japanese series inspired by Utagawa Hiroshige, and unique metal postcards.
The collection is preserved in its entirety within the album and retains its original arrangement. The album shows signs of use and wear consistent with its age.
It is accompanied by high-resolution individual digitizations of all 276 postcards.

The significance of this collection lies in the complete preservation, without any loss of items, of a body of family correspondence dating from 1902 to 1906, a decisive period in Caterina Albert’s literary career. The fact that the postcards remain in their original album allows us to reconstruct not only a sequence of correspondence but also the private, family, and cultural context surrounding the writer during the years when her public profile was taking shape.

The core of the collection consists of twelve postcards autographed by Caterina Albert, written in 1904 and 1905. Of particular significance is the one dated in Barcelona on October 2, 1905, and signed “V. C.”—the initials of her pseudonym, Víctor Català—in the same year that *Solitud* was published. With predominantly nautical themes, these postcards contain dedications, personal comments, and literary excerpts copied by the author herself, including a transcription of some verses by Jacint Verdaguer. Their everyday and private nature provides direct insight into the writer’s personal life, which is difficult to discern from her published works.

The album also provides information about her circle of friends and cultural connections. Among the items, one postcard stands out: it announces the arrival in L’Escala of Santiago Rusiñol, Miquel Utrillo, and Alexandre de Riquer, after they had purchased land in Empúries with the aim of promoting archaeological excavations, and requests that “Katty”—the nickname by which Caterina Albert was known—be notified. It is also revealing that numerous postcards are addressed simply to L’Escala, without specifying a street, a fact that attests to the Albert family’s deep roots and social standing in the town.

In addition to its literary and documentary value, the collection is of interest as a testament to the visual and epistolary culture of the early 20th century. The embossed Modernist postcards, the hand-colored examples, the Japanese-inspired series, and the metal pieces demonstrate the technical and artistic diversity achieved by this medium of communication. The preservation of the original family order and the complete digitization of the items reinforce their value as a unified archive and as a primary source for the study of Víctor Català, his intellectual circle, and Catalan Modernist culture.

Caterina Albert i Paradís, known in literary circles as Víctor Català, occupies a central place in contemporary Catalan literature. Her novel *Solitud*, published in 1905, is one of the seminal works of Catalan literary Modernism. Her body of work spanned fiction, poetry, and theater, and was characterized by a penetrating exploration of individual psychology, social conflicts, and the rural world.
