Hervieu began his artistic career by exhibiting at the Salon des Indépendants and holding a solo show at the Eugène Blot Gallery in Paris in 1910, devoting himself to book illustration and painting. Due to his diminished vision from a childhood illness, he made a transition to writing, a change that proved splendid. Her literary talent was fully recognized when her novel Sangs won the prestigious Femina Prize in 1935, having also published her work L'Âme du Cirque.
