Moïse Kisling was a painter of Polish origin and key figure of the École de Paris, recognized for his portraits, female nudes and still lifes of elegant figuration and great chromatic refinement; born in Krakow, he trained at the Academy of Fine Arts and settled in Paris in 1910, where he was integrated into the environment of the avant-garde and became friends with artists such as Modigliani and Soutine, always maintaining a personal figurative style; He enlisted in the Foreign Legion during the First World War, after which he obtained French nationality, achieving great international success in the twenties and thirties; during the Second World War he was exiled in the United States because of his Jewish origin and returned to France at the end of the conflict, dying in 1953, leaving a work that represents a humanistic and sensual vision of modern art of the twentieth century.
