DESCRIPTION

JOAN MIRÓ I FERRÀ (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma de Mallorca, 1983).
"Musée National d'Art Moderne".
Silkscreen.
In very good condition.
Measurements: 156 x 114,5 cm.

Poster realized on the occasion of an exhibition at the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris, a key institution in the diffusion of European modern art. The work presents a language fully characteristic of the mature production of Joan Miró, articulated from a great central figure of gestural black line, delimited by a vibrant blue outline and accompanied by chromatic spots in red and green.

The composition combines spontaneity and structure, with an expressive use of black as an organizing element of space and color as a symbolic accent. The pictorial gesture, deliberately free and almost calligraphic, reinforces the poetic and playful dimension of the image, fundamental features of Miró's visual universe in his large-format institutional posters.

This poster is part of the artist's outstanding graphic production for museums and exhibitions, considered today an essential part of his legacy for his ability to transfer his plastic language to the public sphere without losing strength or artistic autonomy.

Joan Miró was one of the most influential figures of 20th century art and an essential reference of surrealism and poetic abstraction. His work is preserved in the Fundació Joan Miró and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Barcelona. He is also represented in international collections such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. The Tate in London. The Centre Pompidou / Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris. And the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
