DESCRIPTION
MOISÉS YAGÜES (Murcia, 1972).
“19 Days Without Seeing You.”
Drypoint and woodcut on paper, print P.A. I/II.
Hand-inscribed and titled.
Measurements: 56 x 56 cm; 59 x 59 x 3 cm (frame).
In “19 Days Without Seeing You,” Moisés Yagües distills his graphic language into a high-contrast image: a large white head against a black background, crisscrossed by marks that serve as a tally of the days of absence suggested by the title. The combination of woodcut and drypoint allows him to juxtapose bold graphic masses with more delicate lines, a common technique in his work on paper.
Printmaking occupies an important place in his career. Yagües won the First National Printmaking Prize for Young Artists in 2007 and the Corzón Prize at the National Printmaking Awards in 2008. His work is held in institutions such as the National Library of Spain, the Casa de la Moneda Foundation, and the Museum of Contemporary Spanish Printmaking in Marbella.
