Anton Mirou was a Flemish Baroque landscape painter trained in Frankenthal in the workshop of Gillis van Coninxloo. This training can be seen in the predilection for the use of a general blue-greenish tone as well as in his wooded landscapes, with trees in the foreground to nuance the traditional scheme of the three colors. To this influence must be added that of Jan Brueghel the Elder in the meticulous observation of detail, and that of Schoubroeck in his views of villages surrounded by wooded hills with numerous figurines.
