We are in front of an oil on copper in which the subject of the Communion of the Virgin is represented according to a sketch of Schelte Adamsz (this last one realized between 1645 and 1660). The Virgin appears in the center of the composition, with her fine ivory skin, kneeling before the priest, and ready for Holy Communion. Some angels hold the altar cloth, and on the ceiling of the interior of the church there is a break of glory. The skillful work of the golden filigree on the chasuble stands out, as well as the representation of the foreshortening of the angels, and the anecdotal details added by the painter, for example, with the two women exchanging confidences behind the Virgin.
