Painter formed in the Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos of Valencia, Javier Juste combined from his beginnings the painting of easel with the countries of fans, due to the economic necessities. Being very young and still completely unknown, in 1884 he was awarded the second medal at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, surprising the critics and the public with his quality. His career was soon cut short, however, when at the age of thirty-one he was admitted to a mental hospital. There he continued to paint remarkable landscapes, although characterized by a palette more focused on gray tones, but finally his illness led to his death at the age of forty-three. Juste is currently represented in the Museo de Bellas Artes Pío V in Valencia, the Diputación Provincial de Valencia and in numerous private collections.
