The large format and careful spatial composition place this work within the tradition of late 19th-century Catalan naturalist landscape painting. The composition moves from the masses of vegetation in the foreground toward the river and the architecture in the background, organizing the scene with depth and balance.

The brushwork alternates between greater definition in the tree trunks and buildings and a freer treatment of the foliage, sky, and reflections. The small figure on the riverbank introduces a sense of scale and discreetly enlivens the composition, while the prominence given to the surroundings and the direct observation of nature fully reflects the interests of Catalan landscape painting of the period.
