Painter, sculptor and watercolorist, Sebastià Badia was one of the most notable disciples of Manolo Hugué. He occupies a prominent place in the history of Catalan sculpture in the second half of the twentieth century, and began his career as a religious sculptor after the civil war. In 1943 he held his first solo exhibition in Barcelona, being presented by Hugué himself. In 1953 the Museum of Modern Art of Barcelona, now MNAC, acquired one of his works, awarded at the Municipal Spring Exhibition in Barcelona. Throughout his career he received important commissions and institutional recognition, and made numerous interventions in Catalonia. His works are currently preserved in various churches and public places, both in Barcelona and in other Catalan cities.
