Josep Riba Robert effigies in this piece the light-hearted portrait of a woman wearing an ostentatious blue hat. The technique, very free and light, with large brushstrokes that intertwine blurring the features of the model, as well as the color, very contrasting and unreal, drink from the contributions of the post-impressionists, who definitively freed the painting of any mimetic obligation.

Self-taught, Josep Riba Robert was one of the founders of the Igualadina entity Les Arts del Dibuix (1934), in whose premises various local artists met to draw figures of nature. In 1935 he was awarded in the National Competition of Models of the First Salon of Creations celebrated in Barcelona. From that same year, he took part in numerous group exhibitions held in Igualada, where he made his individual debut in 1982 with an exhibition of figure drawings and sketches from life. Two years later, he exhibited in the same city a group of acrylic works with great versatility in style and subject matter.
