Trained as a disciple of Josep Mestre and at the School of Fine Arts of La Lonja in Barcelona, Llovet made his individual debut in 1951, at the Sala Argos in Barcelona. He immediately held another solo exhibition in Paris, and since then he developed an intense exhibition work in Spain as well as in France, the United States and Germany. He also participated in the Hispano-American Biennial and in the Autumn and October Salons in Barcelona. His awards include the Gold Medal of the Diputación de Mallorca. His style is a very personal synthesis of naivety and expressionism, marked by the importance of color and the strength of the brushstroke. He uses strong reds, yellows and blues, delimited by intense blacks that give his compositions a totally personal lyricism and expressive force. Ramón Llovet is currently represented in the MACBA, as well as in important private collections.
