Painting of historicist and costumbrista type, inspired by the Spanish Golden Age, with a nostalgic treatment of setecentistas environments. We see a gentleman with pointed moustaches that without dismounting receives from a servant a glass of fresh water served from a pitcher. He is part of a retinue of travelers with wide-brimmed hats and ruffs, who have stopped in a village to refuel. A group of dogs accompany them. In the background, rustic houses reinforce the popular atmosphere. This type of painting sought to portray daily life with a narrative and almost theatrical air, very much in tune with picaresque or chivalrous literature.
