The work presents an exuberant bouquet of flowers arranged in a decorated vase, executed with a pasty and vibrant brushstroke characteristic of certain Russian painters of the late nineteenth century and early decades of the twentieth century, influenced by impressionism and colorist symbolism. The pictorial surface reveals dense layers of oil paint applied with an energetic gesture, generating a rich texture that emphasizes the materiality of the flowers and the vase. The composition is organized around the contrast between the warm tones of the petals -pinks, reds and nuanced whites- and the intense greens of the leaves and the vase, creating a harmonious and dynamic chromatic effect at the same time. The neutral background, treated loosely, contributes to enhance the vitality of the floral motif, giving the whole an expressive and luminous character typical of the modern Russian tradition.
