Painter and engraver, Fernando Martinez studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona. He began his artistic career in the late seventies, participating in various group exhibitions and competitions and being selected, among others, in the Joan Miró International Drawing Prize (Barcelona, 1982 and 1983). In 1983 he obtains the Grant for Artistic Creation from the Generalitat de Catalunya. He made his solo debut at the cultural center of Sant Feliu de Llobregat, in 1982, and since then he has held personal exhibitions in Spain, Italy and New York. He has participated in fairs such as ARCO in Madrid, Saga in France and the Mostra d'Arte Bologna. He cultivates an abstraction based on flat and vivid colors, from which emerges a personal vocabulary of vague forms, of distant figurative or symbolic evocation if it were not for his decided vocation of irreferentiality.
