JOSEP FERRÉ REVASCALL (Vilaplana, Tarragona, 1907 - Reus, Tarragona, 2001)

Josep Ferré Revascall developed his training and began his career in Barcelona, and in 1934 he settled permanently in Reus. Known as "The Prince of Roses" for his mastery in representing these flowers, his work also covers the genre of landscape, still life and portrait. He exhibited regularly at the Centro de Lectura de Reus and at the Anquin's gallery, and was awarded the City of Reus prize and the Fortuny Medal, among other awards. He also taught at the Escuela del Trabajo in his adopted city. Named illustrious son of Vilaplana in 2007, posthumously and on the occasion of the centenary of his birth, Josep Ferré Revascall has a square named after him in Reus, presided over by a monument that was dedicated to him while he was still alive. It is currently represented in the Art Museum of Tarragona.
