Painter and photographer, Rafael Bataller was initiated in painting by his friend Angel Planells, and in 1925 he entered the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. He completed his studies in Paris, where he became acquainted with the work of Cézanne, Gromaire and Villon. Since 1959 he held successive personal exhibitions in the Vayreda and Parés galleries in Barcelona, and also held personal exhibitions in Paris and in the El Cisne gallery in Madrid. In his career, certain parts of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands were of special importance, such as his native Blanes or Ibiza, which he got to know in depth and which he reflected in his paintings, since he devoted himself mainly to landscapes. He is represented at the MACBA.
