Oscar Larsen was the son of the painter Carl Christian Larsen. He attended the school of graphic arts of Vienna from 1897 to 1901 and, from 1901 to 1909, to the Academy of Vienna with professor Alois Delug. Together with Alfred Buctha and H. Lanzinger, he collaborated in the decoration of the Town Hall of Bolzano and worked as a war painter during the First World War. From 1919, he was a member of the Vienna Kunstlerhauses painters' association and of another association in London, where he was an honorary professor at the Royal Academy. The painter always preferred to create works related to the Bible and mythology, creating his own style, characterized by a rich and vivid imagination and distinctive and well-defined colors.
