Work belonging to one of the most conceptually dense stages of Jorge Castillo, made in 1975, when the artist delves into a painting of introspective and symbolic character. In "Taggio y yo", the scene is constructed as a mental rather than narrative space, where figure, shadow and object dialogue in an atmosphere of disturbing ambiguity.

The composition generates a psychological tension that is reinforced by the use of collage and the superimposition of glazes. The space, apparently interior, becomes a metaphysical scenario in which identity and otherness confront each other. The treatment of the surface -with transparencies and hallmarks between the defined and the diffuse- intensifies the sensation of splitting.

Jorge Castillo is an essential figure of contemporary Spanish art, linked since the sixties to the New Figuration. His work, strongly symbolic and literary, oscillates between figuration and abstraction. He is represented in important public collections such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the IVAM, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao and various international institutions.
