“Red Dragonfly” belongs to one of Salustiano’s latest series, titled POP. In this series, the artist explores a highly refined visual language through the incorporation of elements from nature, such as flowers and insects. Within this universe are other works featuring dragonflies, such as “Tulip with Dragonfly” or compositions with blue dragonflies. In this piece, the intense yet subtle red of the insect’s wings takes center stage against the composition’s understated background, transforming a natural motif into an icon with a powerful visual presence.The work embodies one of the essential traits of Salustiano’s artistic language: the ability to transform the everyday into an elegant, timeless, and deeply meaningful image through painting of extraordinary precision and clarity.
Trained in Fine Arts at the University of Seville, Salustiano has built a solid international career. His work has been exhibited at prominent institutions and art fairs, including the Fowler Museums in Los Angeles, the LUMA Museum in Chicago, and the Vostell-Malpartida Museum in Cáceres, as well as at international events such as Art Cologne, the Armory Show in New York, Art Miami, ARCO, KIAF in Seoul, and the Scope Art Fair. His work has also appeared on the covers of specialized publications and has been featured in projects linked to institutions such as the Dalai Lama Foundation, the Cisneros Foundation, and Muhammad Yunus’s Grameen Bank.
