This work belongs to the Ikebana series, in which Javier Loren channels his extensive exploration of geometric abstraction into a composition characterized by greater organic freedom. The title refers to the Japanese art of floral arrangement and finds its counterpart in a structure based on the balance between forms, negative space, and directions, rather than on a literal representation.

Against the black background, reddish and orange forms overlap and interconnect through curves, diagonals, and jagged outlines, creating a dynamic composition in which negative space takes on as much importance as the painted surfaces. The application of inks and acrylics introduces variations in density and texture within precisely contoured forms, thus combining the geometric rigor that characterizes Loren’s career with a more gestural and material-chromatic dimension.

Trained at the Escola Massana and the Barcelona School of Arts and Crafts, Javier Loren has developed his career across painting, design, and research into graphic techniques. In 1980, he founded a group in Barcelona dedicated to the research and development of geometric abstraction, a decisive direction in the evolution of his artistic language. His work has been featured in exhibitions such as ARCO and the Jaume Guasch Painting Biennial, and is represented in collections including those of Jaume I University in Castellón, the Cervantes Institute in Milan, and The Florida Museum of Hispanic and Latin American Art.
