Carme Miquel studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and has pursued a dual career as a teacher and a painter. She has taught at the Escola Superior de Disseny i Art de Llotja in Barcelona since 1981. She also served as director of this school from 2005 to 2010. She has also taught the seminar “Painting in Barcelona” at the School of Visual Arts in New York since 1991. She has held numerous solo exhibitions and has also participated in group exhibitions and art fairs. Her work possesses a delicate lyricism. The artist displays a keen interest in color, typically employing a light technique based on soft washes and subtle chromatic nuances. She focuses on floral subjects, although she occasionally also explores the human figure.
