Joan Lahosa was a painter known for his portraits, landscapes, and religious compositions. He trained at the Llotja School and the Baixas Academy in Barcelona, and furthered his education by studying the great masters in Madrid, Paris, and Italy. His painting, characterized by a solid academic foundation and a figurative style, reflects a particular interest in the human figure. He combined his artistic work with teaching at the Industrial School of Barcelona and created important religious works, such as the paintings at the Fontcalda sanctuary. His work is represented in the Museu d’Art Modern de Tarragona.
