MARTÍN LLAMEDO (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1980)
"The decision".

In this work Martín Llamedo unfolds a scene that oscillates between the theatrical and the introspective, articulated through a visual language that combines scenographic photography, digital painting and contemporary collage procedures. The vertical axis that crosses the composition functions as an opaque, almost tactile barrier, whose material thickness contrasts with the translucent delicacy of the rest of the image. This column not only separates the visual field: it also introduces an obvious metaphor about splitting, fragmentation and the impossibility of fully accessing the scene.
On either side of this central element appear two female figures, captured in positions that evoke vulnerability and ritual availability, but also resistance and enigma. The soft, almost veiled lighting generates an intimate atmosphere where the theatrical reds of the draperies become signs of desire, expectation and narrative suspension. The fishnet stockings, the heels and the bodily inclination refer to an erotic imaginary, without falling into literalness; rather, they function as symbols tensioned by the superimposition of planes and optical distortion.
In this sense, the work takes the viewer to a state of ambivalence: the scene promises a revelation, but simultaneously denies it through the central pictorial veil.
Martín Llamedo is an Argentine visual artist known for his hybrid approach between painting and digital technologies.
