Inspired by the couplets I and III of Jorge Manrique, this work proposes a visual reflection on the transience of life and the need to awaken the conscience before the certainty of death. A male body, anatomically precise but decapitated, symbolizes the absent or dormant reason that the poet invites to "revive". In place of the head appears a luminous polyhedron suspended in a geometric space, metaphor of thought or of an interior architecture of the soul. The deep blue background brings an atmosphere of transcendence, while the technical lines and annotations recall engineering plans, connecting art, science and knowledge. At the base, a skull and a rose function as memento mori and symbol of ephemeral beauty.
Jesús Fernández Escobar is a plastic artist whose pictorial practice is located in the territory of dialogue between figuration and abstraction. His creative career is marked by a constant search for balance between structure and emotion, precision and intuition.
His initial training in mechanical engineering had a profound influence on his understanding of forms, balance and structural precision, elements that are still present in his pictorial language. He later oriented his path towards the visual arts, obtaining a Master's Degree in Art from the University of Seville in 2020, where he is currently developing his research as a doctoral student in Art and Heritage. Throughout his career he has received several awards, including the 1st Prize of Painting Puerta de Segura (Jaén, 2014), in addition to being a finalist in competitions such as Emilio Ollero (2015 and 2016), the Ibercaja Prize (2015), the Mercedes Fernández Contest (2017) and Carta Puebla (Ciudad Real, 2025).
His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions both in Spain and internationally, highlighting shows in spaces such as Art Cuestion Gallery (Madrid), M.A.D. Gallery (Milan) or ART FAIR Malaga. He has also participated in exhibitions such as Vandelvira (Úbeda, 2020), Utopía (Morón de la Frontera, 2020), La Modelo y los Artistas (Úbeda, 2019) and Línea (Jaén, 2018), as well as exhibiting continuously since 2012 at the Santa Clara Museum in Zafra. His paintings are part of private collections in different countries in Europe, the United States, China or Mexico. He currently develops his work from his studio in Puente de Génave (Jaén), where he continues to explore new pictorial possibilities within his artistic research.
