Kastro, a multidisciplinary artist whose career has been marked by the exploration of new media, develops in the Kriatures collection a unique universe of interconnected characters—distinct yet belonging to the same visual community. Each Kriature represents a presence, a possible story, an individual within a vast emotional network.
A design instructor for Spain’s most prestigious companies for over 20 years, Kastro focuses his efforts on technological creations geared toward avant-garde and innovative art environments, where his installations can be seen in Barcelona through interactive and tactile works. In his visual art, he has developed a self-taught body of work. A great connoisseur and follower of abstract expressionist movements in his early period, his works display strong elements of Tachism and Informalism; later, however, his work reveals a very different approach to understanding contemporary abstract art. A tireless explorer of materials and elements, he experiments—depending on the moment and the form—with materials, textures, and even structures, leading him to create pieces intended to convey diverse feelings and emotions to everyone. He founded Maculae in 2018 with the goal of creating a small group of artists from various disciplines, focused on sharing artistic experiences and complementing the national art market. His work is found throughout Europe. He has held various exhibitions nationwide, organized in collaboration with the Madrid Association of Decorators and Interior Designers (CODDIM), as well as at LUMINARIA 3, an international contemporary art exhibition. Kastro’s work is found in more than 40 countries, and it is characteristic of his approach to constantly explore new materials and media in search of new forms of expression.
