Silver chalice or ciborium. It is characterized by its straight goblet shape with a square base and decorative engravings on the upper part.
At the end of the 18th century and during the 19th century, the Cordovan silverware reached a remarkable development, consolidating itself as one of the most distinctive artistic manifestations of the city of Cordoba. This period was marked by an intense production linked to both the religious and civil spheres, in a context in which the splendor of sacred art continued to play a central role in Andalusian cultural life. The Cordovan silversmith workshops were distinguished by the quality of their workmanship, the technical mastery of precious metalwork, especially embossed, chiseled or gilded silver, and the survival of Baroque forms, which, although adapted to the new neoclassical trends, maintained a recognizable visual identity.
