The origin of the Château Baron de Pichon-Longueville winery dates back to the end of the 17th century. In 1850 the original property was divided in two, and five years later, at the 1855 Universal Exposition, its wines were classified with Second Cru Classé. Their vineyards are planted with 62% cabernet sauvignon, 33% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot, separated into perfectly distinct plots.
