Château Cos d'Estournel is located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, in the Médoc region, within the Bordeaux wine region. Its wine was classified as one of the Deuxièmes Crus in the Official Bordeaux Wine Classification of 1855. It produces two wines: its eponymous Grand Vin and a second wine, Les Pagodes de Cos, and both tend to incorporate more Merlot than other Left Bank wines. The vineyard covers 70 hectares, growing Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%), with a minority production of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, which find their way into the modern wines in small quantities.
