ValSotillo Reserva is one of the historic wines of Bodegas Ismael Arroyo, a traditional reference in Ribera del Duero and a producer with a classic profile, proven longevity and limited production.
This bottle corresponds to the 2001 vintage, considered one of the best historical vintages of the appellation, especially valued for its balance, aging capacity and structure.
The wine is made with Tinta del País from selected vineyards located in Sotillo de la Ribera (Burgos). The wine is aged in a subway cellar excavated in 16th century rock, with a maturation period of 24 months in American oak barrels and subsequent refinement in the bottle.
This edition was bottled on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the winery (1979-2004), which adds a commemorative character and additional interest for collectors.
The production run was limited to 9,410 bottles and 495 Magnum bottles, this format being particularly scarce.
Magnum formats are highly appreciated by experts and collectors for their greater aging capacity, as they offer a slower and more complex evolution of the wine. Their lower availability and better preservation conditions mean that, at auction, they fetch higher prices than standard formats.
