Château La Mondotte wine is produced on a small plot with limestone soil that, when Joseph-Hubert founded the winery, only produced crops that struggled to grow, and did not promise good harvests. However, with work and time the extreme characteristics of this vineyard produced wines referred to as "super-cuvée", now among the most prized and expensive wines in the entire Bordeaux region. The vineyard has 4.5 hectares, with Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (205) varieties, and produces between 650 and 1,000 cases annually. The Château La Mondotte wine was upgraded to Premier Grand Cru in the 2012 Saint-Émilion reclassification.
