Trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, Ramiro Fernández Saus completed his studies in London, where, in 1989, thanks to a scholarship from the Generalitat de Catalunya, he studied at Delfina Studios. His work is characterized by an intensely expressive, raw, and strongly individualistic style, rooted in the historical avant-garde movements and particularly close to German Expressionism. The artist constructs his images through a rough, direct, and deliberately primitive style of drawing, marked by pronounced linearity, with which he distorts and synthesizes the figures to heighten their emotional impact. His compositions eschew complacent representation and establish a direct confrontation with the viewer, combining figuration, psychological tension, and a distinctive formal rawness. Throughout his career, he has maintained a robust exhibition schedule both nationally and internationally, presenting his work at venues such as the Helga de Alvear Gallery and the Estampa Gallery in Madrid, the Long & Ryle Gallery in London, and the Siboney Gallery in Santander, in addition to participating in exhibitions held at institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid and the Sabadell Art Museum.
