Sergi Barnils studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Sant Pere de Vilamajor Center for Contemporary Art, both in Barcelona. He made his debut in 1984 at the Caixa Cultural Center in Terrassa, and since then has exhibited his work both in Spain and abroad. Throughout his career, Barnils has been awarded the Special Prize at the 8th Barcelona Provincial Art Competition, the same award at the 8th Barcelona National Youth Art Competition, and the Tossa de Mar International Painting Prize.
