The “Angélique” vase, created by Lalique in 2014, stands out for its relief decoration, in which plant motifs and female figures intertwine. The interplay of volumes, the richness of detail, and the effects of light on the crystal make this piece a fine example of the French firm’s decorative work.
Founded by René Lalique (1860–1945), the house achieved international fame thanks to its ability to transform glass and crystal into authentic works of design. Initially involved in jewelry, Lalique found a constant source of inspiration in nature, female figures, and mythological motifs. His style, first associated with Art Nouveau and later with Art Deco, revolutionized the decorative arts of his time. After his death, his son Marc Lalique gave new impetus to crystal production, consolidating the brand’s identity.
The “Angélique” model appeared in the 2014 Lalique catalog. Its amber crystal version with gold enamel was produced in a limited edition of 99 pieces, which enhances its appeal to collectors. The piece combines meticulous glasswork with a distinctly sculptural design, keeping alive the appreciation for natural forms and intricate detail that has defined Lalique for over a century.
