DESCRIPTION
Centerpiece in the style of GABRIELLA CRESPI (Italy, 1922–2017), 1970s.
Rattan and gilded metal.
In good overall condition, with signs of use and wear on the gold finish.
Measurements: 9.5 cm high; 41 cm in diameter.
Circular centerpiece made of rattan arranged in concentric rings, with low sides and a band of gold-plated metal reinforcing the edge. The combination of natural fibers and metallic finishes evokes the decorative style of Gabriella Crespi, though it is not directly attributed to her. Its appeal lies in the hallmarks of contrast in textures and the simplicity of its geometry, which allow it to blend seamlessly into both period settings and contemporary interiors.
Gabriella Crespi was an Italian designer and artist, particularly renowned for her furniture, lamps, and decorative objects from the 1960s and 1970s. Trained in architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, she combined natural materials, such as bamboo and rattan, with metals like brass, creating pieces with geometric lines and a sculptural character. Notable among her works are the transformable furniture pieces from the Plurimi series and the Rising Sun collection.
