Murano glass.
Signed.
Good condition with some signs of age.
Measurements: 37 x 14 cm.
A Murano glass vase in a deep green hue, with a tapered body and flared mouth, topped by a bright yellow base with a red band and a small detail of red glass applied to the stem. The chromatic contrast and the combination of stylized volumes give the piece a striking sculptural presence, characteristic of the decorative experimentation in Italian glass from the late 20th century. The B.A.G. (Barovier Art Glass) series reflects the most expressive side of Barovier & Toso, which has successfully combined the artisanal tradition of blown glass with formal and chromatic innovation.
Barovier & Toso is one of the great historic houses of Venetian glass. Its origins are linked to the Barovier family tradition, documented in Murano since the 14th century, and the firm traces its historical roots back to 1295. Over the centuries, the family contributed to the development of the island’s artistic glass, combining technical expertise passed down through generations with a constant search for new aesthetic possibilities. However, it was during the 20th century that the firm reached new heights thanks to Ercole Barovier (1889–1974), a designer, entrepreneur, and artistic director whose research profoundly transformed the language of Murano glass.
