DESCRIPTION
Louis XVI-style mirror. France, second half of the 19th century.
Carved and gilded wood.
Measurements: 83 x 55 cm (mirror surface); 126 x 84 cm (frame).
A Louis XVI-style mirror whose design combines the simplicity of a rectangular frame with meticulous neoclassical ornamentation. The frame is adorned with beaded moldings and floral borders, accompanied by rosettes and carved branches at the corners. The openwork crown stands out, dominated by an urn flanked by foliage and ribbons, which enhances the overall design while maintaining its symmetrical balance. Made in France during the second half of the 19th century, it is an example of the historicist taste that revived the elegance of 18th-century designs for the bourgeois interiors of the time.
