The Balenciaga Blackout City Bag is a refined reinterpretation of one of contemporary fashion’s most iconic designs: the City Bag, conceived under the creative direction of Nicolas Ghesquière in the early 2000s. With a flexible silhouette and urban spirit, the original model achieved remarkable success thanks to its casual aesthetic, its distressed-look leather, and its signature metallic details, becoming a style icon of that decade.
Introduced in 2016, the Blackout version offers a minimalist and experimental take on this design. The traditional metal studs—one of the City’s most recognizable features—have been replaced by a delicate pattern of punctures that replicates the bag’s contours and decorative motifs on the leather’s surface.
