The “Kelly” bag is one of Hermès’ most iconic designs and a hallmark of French luxury leather goods. Created in the 1930s by Robert Dumas, it gained international recognition in 1956 when Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco was photographed carrying one of these models, turning it into a symbol of elegance and distinction.
This vintage piece features the characteristic trapezoidal silhouette, with a rigid top handle, flap, and gold-tone metal twist lock, secured by straps and a padlock. Crafted from smooth black leather, it stands out for the simplicity of its lines and the meticulous attention to construction details. Its well-balanced proportions combine functionality with the timeless elegance that characterizes the model.
Founded in Paris in 1837 by Thierry Hermès, the firm began as a workshop specializing in saddlery and evolved into one of the world’s leading international luxury houses. Its leather creations, crafted using artisanal techniques, are distinguished by the quality of their materials, the precision of their craftsmanship, and the continuity of their historic designs.
