Illustration created in 1934 for the special issue of the magazine “D’Ací i d’Allà,” created using the “pochoir” or stencil technique, which involves cutting out shapes from sheets of zinc—as in Miró’s case—or cardboard, coloring them, and transferring them to paper by contact.
This is a special issue of the magazine *D’aci i d’allá*, edited by J. LL. Sert and J. Prats, corresponding to issue 179 and volume XXII. The cover is illustrated by Joan Miró, and the interior is profusely illustrated with black-and-white photographs and includes Miró’s pochoir. A monthly Catalan cultural magazine published in Barcelona between 1918 and 1936, it ceased publication with the outbreak of the Civil War. *D’aci i d’alla* was an important vehicle for disseminating ideas on urban planning and social behavior, bringing Catalonia’s urban bourgeoisie closer to political Catalanism through its wide-ranging content. The magazine placed great emphasis on photography, showcasing the work of prominent artists such as Man Ray.
