Created in 1991, this work belongs to a period of transformation in Marina Abramović’s career, when, after ending her collaboration with Ulay, she delved deeper into her exploration of the relationship between the body, nature, and the energies of matter. The composition features a surface of reddish tones with a mineral-like appearance, crisscrossed by sinuous blue lines and a central white element. The hallmarks of the organic texture of the background and the gestural quality of the drawing create an image of a symbolic nature, closely tied to her explorations during those years of natural elements and their spiritual dimension. The work translates into visual language some of the conceptual concerns that defined her practice in the early 1990s.

Considered one of the great pioneers of performance art, Marina Abramović began her career in Belgrade during the 1970s, creating performances centered on physical endurance, the limits of the body, and the relationship with the viewer. Between 1976 and 1988, she collaborated with the artist Ulay, with whom she staged some of her most renowned performances. Her work has been the subject of major international retrospectives, including *The Artist Is Present*, held at MoMA in New York in 2010. Her work is represented in prominent international collections and has been exhibited at institutions such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
