Clos Mogador is one of the Priorat’s most iconic wines and a key example of the qualitative transformation of this wine region. Created by René Barbier in Gratallops, it comes from a vineyard on steep slopes with llicorella soils—a type of slate characteristic of the Priorat—which foster pronounced concentration and mineral expression. Its blend combines Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah—varieties that contribute complexity, depth, and aging potential. The 2005 vintage stands out for its intensity, structure, and balance, with a profile of ripe black fruit, cherry, licorice, spices, toasty notes, and mineral undertones. It was a particularly significant vintage for the estate, as Clos Mogador became the first Spanish wine to be recognized as a “Vi de Finca Qualificada.” Its extraordinary critical acclaim and status as a benchmark wine of the Priorat region make this set of four bottles a particularly attractive offering for collectors and enthusiasts of great Spanish reds with aging potential.
