DESCRIPTION
Erotic Huaco of the Chimú culture; Peru, 1000-1400 A.D.
Burnished black ceramic.
Measurements: 19 x 20 x 15 cm.
Huaco Chimú figurative, erotic theme, made in black burnished ceramic, with geometric motifs in relief on the foot and two round figures in the upper part, with incised details.
The Chimú culture was born on the northern coast of Peru after the fall of the Huari Empire, between the years 1000 and 1200. It is believed that its origin is found in the cultural fusion of the Mochica and the Lambayeque, although the Chimú based the foundation of their civilization on a myth, which narrates that ships arrived by sea to bring order to the kingdom, led by the god Tacaynamo, who governed the people of the Peruvian coast until his death. This culture excelled especially in urban planning, as evidenced by its formidable constructions, and also developed an important textile industry, pottery and advanced metallurgical techniques.
