Set of two fragments of shaft belonging to fluted columns from Roman times, characterized by the presence of longitudinal grooves that originally ran along the entire surface of the support.

The fluted columns were widely used in classical Greco-Roman architecture, especially in orders such as Ionic and Corinthian, and continued to be used during the High Roman Empire. These fragments, preserved as archaeological remains, allow us to appreciate both the quality of the carving and the type of stone used, probably limestone.

Pieces of this type usually come from monumental buildings - temples, forums or public spaces - and are material testimonies of Roman architectural development, as well as of the reuse and fragmentation of ancient structures over time.
