This pair of earrings from the Roman period, made in gold and decorated with natural pearls, is a refined example of ancient jewelry, where technical skill and taste for delicate ornamentation are combined.

The composition presents an upper motif of floral character, worked in gold leaf, in the center of which a pearl is set. From this main element hang articulated chains, also in gold, adorned with small pearls, which add movement and lightness to the whole. This type of design, based on hanging elements, was especially appreciated in Roman jewelry for its ability to capture light.

The use of gold, a material of great value and durability, together with pearls -a symbol of status and elegance in Antiquity-, evidences the luxurious character of the piece. These jewels were intended for an elite context, forming part of the personal adornment of women of high social rank.

As a whole, the earrings reflect the Roman taste for sophistication, as well as the influence of Hellenistic traditions in goldsmithing, standing out for their balance between decorative richness and compositional harmony.
