This pair of earrings from the Roman period, made in gold and decorated with natural pearls, is an elegant example of ancient goldsmithing, characterized by the combination of precious materials and refined formal solutions.
The design features a circular upper element with a set central pearl, framed by a gold structure with a slightly indented rim. From this main body hangs an elongated motif in the form of a small cylinder or bell, topped by an irregular pearl, creating a set of great visual lightness.
The structural simplicity of the piece is enriched by the contrast between the warm glow of the gold and the pearly softness of the pearls, elements highly valued in Roman jewelry. This type of earrings, in pendant format, were common in women's personal adornment, associated with contexts of status and sophistication.
