Interesting marble sculptural fragment representing a satyr, a figure belonging to the Dionysian courtship and associated with the world of wine, nature and the primal instincts. The relief, of fragmentary character, preserves part of the body and head of the character, whose physiognomy, today softened by erosion, still allows us to recognize its expressive and dynamic character.
The volumetric treatment, with rounded forms and fluid modeling, responds to the Roman sculptural tradition inspired by Hellenistic models, where this type of figure was very popular in decorative contexts, especially in villas and gardens.
The surface shows ancient patina and homogeneous wear, which provide authenticity and reinforce its archaeological character. Despite its fragmentary state, the piece retains a remarkable plastic presence and evocative value.
