DESCRIPTION
Skyphos. Greece, 4th century BC.
Ceramic.
Attached thermoluminescence test.
In good state of preservation. Presents repair in a handle.
Measurements: 10.6 cm. height.
Deep cup of skyphos type, with two horizontal handles, characteristic of the Greek tableware destined to the wine consumption. It presents decoration in black figures on clear background, with stylized motifs of vegetal and ornamental character, typical of late productions of the classical period.
The composition stands out for its dynamism and chromatic contrast, combining curvilinear elements and dots that structure the surface in a balanced way. This type of pieces, of everyday use, reflects the diffusion of traditional decorative models in domestic contexts.
