DESCRIPTION
Uadyet, protector of the pharaoh and Lower Egypt. Egypt, Lower Egypt, 664-323 B.C.
Bronze.
Provenance: Private collection, France
Good state of preservation.
Measurements: 7,2 cm height.
Small but significant representation in bronze of the goddess Uadyet, cobra divinity associated with the protection of the pharaoh and symbol of Lower Egypt. The figure, of stylized character, presents a schematic and archaizing conception, typical of the productions of the Low Epoch, where older models were reinterpreted with a synthetic language and of strong symbolic load.
Its iconography refers to the uraeus, a protective emblem that adorned the foreheads of sovereigns, embodying divine power and royal legitimacy. The piece retains an attractive green patina, the result of the natural oxidation of the bronze, which underlines its authenticity and antiquity.
This type of object, of small format, was linked to both private devotional practices and votive contexts, acting as protective amulets and tangible manifestations of Egyptian religiosity.
