DESCRIPTION
Vase. Roman Empire, I-III centuries AD.
Blown glass.
Measurements: 15 x 11 x 11 cm.
Roman blown glass beaker, globular body, cylindrical neck and mouth exvasada. Its silhouette, simple and balanced, responds to a typology widely spread in the Roman area, linked to the storage and pouring of liquids, oils or ointments.
The surface retains archaeological patina, iridescence, inlays and general wear and tear consistent with antiquity. These natural effects of alteration of the glass provide chromatic depth and an attractive material texture, with greenish, ocher and pearly tones.
This glass testifies to the technical refinement achieved by Roman workshops in the production of everyday vessels, where functionality, lightness and formal beauty coexisted with remarkable naturalness.
